Good Evening,

Dear Shiloh Families:

COVID Update – January 14, 2021

As you are aware, the Board of Education has been committed to offering in-person learning for as long as possible.  I have shared that one of our biggest obstacles would be staffing the school should not enough personnel be available. I have to acknowledge and give my gratitude to our teachers and support personnel that have stepped up to continue to close the gaps created by absences due to COVID.

Unfortunately, there are always limits, and I need to inform you that as of this afternoon, we have a significant number of staff members that are currently under quarantine.  And while we cannot thank our small group of loyal substitutes enough for filling in, we simply do not have enough personnel to cover our current needs.

Because of this, we will suspend in-person learning at Shiloh Middle School for two weeks beginning next Tuesday.  The calendar is included below.  Shiloh Elementary School will continue to operate as we have since October with the in-person option. Middle School students will follow their current schedules remotely.

Please understand that this decision is not being made out of fear of the unknown, but rather the determination that we cannot safely and adequately provide in-person instruction and supervision for all of our students.

Our goal remains to safely provide in-person instruction for all, but COVID has forced us to shift our approach. Since a number of the aforementioned staff will not be able to return for two weeks, we anticipate for in-person instruction to return to Shiloh Middle School on Monday, February 1, 2021.  Therefore, here is our schedule for the next two weeks:

Friday, January 15, 2021 – In-Person Instruction District-Wide (Current Approach)

Monday, January 18, 2021 – No School.  Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Tuesday, January 19, 2021 – No School (District-Wide) Remote Learning Planning Day

Material and Technology Pick-up at Shiloh Middle School 2pm-7pm

Wednesday, January 20, 2021 through Friday, January 29, 2021

In-Person Instruction for Shiloh Elementary School (Pre-K through 3rd Grade)

Remote Learning for Shiloh Middle School (4th Grade through 8th Grade)

Monday, February 1, 2021 – Anticipated Return to In-Person Learning District-Wide

Technology Return 7:30am-5pm (Students May Bring Technology With Them)

I apologize for the disruption that this may cause any of you, but deeply appreciate your continued patience and support.
